Do you ever feel super groggy in the morning? Are you reliant on countless soy lattes with extra shots?
Hitting the snooze button is costing you BIG time. This amazed me.
A speedy lesson in how sleep works:
You sleep in cycles, these usually last 75-90 minutes long. You’ll have about 4 or 5 cycles a night (varying from person to person). And it’s so your mind and body can repair, recover and create memories. One of the main reasons we need to sleep is so the brain can turn the day’s events into memories. #scienceblowsmymind
When you’ve finished your sleep cycles, your mind and body is ready to wake up and start the day. You’re lifted into a lighter sleep all set for waking up.
Now here’s the surprising truth about the snooze button.
When you hit snooze and doze back to the land of nod, you will start another sleep cycle. So when your alarm goes off again 10 minutes later, your mind is stuck in a sleep cycle. And this is why you feel groggy and like you’re dragging yourself awake.
If that’s not bad enough, you remain stuck in this half-awake-half-asleep state for up to 4 hours. FOUR HOURS! Four! It stops you from accessing all your brain. Meaning you’re less alert, slow to respond, and crave countless soy lattes with extra shots. Sod it, and a pain au chocolat.
So the diets gone out the window, you’re late for work again and feel like the most unreliable person ever. And omg, in the mad rush to get out, did you remember to feed the cat and pick up your pole shorts? Shit.
The evil snooze button can have a huge impact on your entire day. It effects how you talk to yourself in your head. How frantic and out of control your life feels. How often you go to pole class and whether you stick to your healthy eating plan.
Since I found this out, I never hit snooze again!
Are you a snooze-a-holic? What are your top tips to get out of bed when the alarm goes off? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Tell me in the comments below xx
I have been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting
article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all site
owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be much more useful than ever before.
